“A gentle answer turns away wrath, but harsh words stir up anger.” Proverbs 15:1 NIV
Good Morning to you all, and Happy Monday, or happy whatever day it is that you are reading this! I wanted to share a quick word today that I pray blesses everyone who reads it. This word came to me while at work last Monday. We were extremely busy and one of my coworkers was having a true Monday. I mean you name it, it happened, and it’s typical human nature that we get irritated or frustrated when our day gets hectic. The key is to take a moment, pray, and gather yourself. Do not let a bad moment determine the rest of your day.
My coworker was dealing with irate customer after irate customer; after about 2-3 customers, she took a breather, and changed how she dealt with the next customer. Don’t get me wrong, the next customer was still an irate customer, but she stayed pleasant. She didn’t get upset, she didn’t let the angry customer get to her, she kept giving soft answers, and the customer eventually calmed down.
I want to encourage you all today and this week to give a gentle answer to those that you encounter. The scripture above states a gentle answer turns away wrath, but harsh words stir up anger. Whether it’s a difficult coworker, an irate customer, a spouse, friend, or family member; do not repay evil for evil. Be nice, be kind, use your words wisely. If someone is saying hurtful or mean things to you, do not say hurtful things back. Be the bigger person, and respond with the opposite response. Do not add fuel to the flame, but simply respond nicely. You may be surprised what a gentle answer will do, and even a genuine smile.
This nugget says soooooo much.. thank you for sharing
