Today is the second day of the year. While many may have New Year Resolutions, I’m challenging you all this year. I enjoyed the holiday season, but more so, I’m just glad that I survived being in retail for the holiday season. Working in retail as closely as I do with guests, it is important to be personal and build connections with guests to make them feel special. When you are polite and others can trust you, they will buy more from you. During the holiday season we were extremely busy. Some days, we saw tons of people and it was very difficult to remember everyone, but I did my best to try to remember names. One day, I had a few customers at a time and because they were regulars, I knew their names. My coworker asked, “Jessica how do you remember everyone’s name?” It really didn’t sink in to me, but it’s hard to forget some customer’s names if they are regulars.

If you are a regular at a jewelry store, a restaurant, a bookstore, etc. it’s hard for the ones there to forget you. As people, we should be regulars with Jesus. We should go to Him so much that he knows us by name. Of course Jesus knows us, but I mean really know you. Matthew 7:21-23 says, “Not everyone who says to me, ‘Lord, Lord,’ will enter the kingdom of heaven, but only the one who does the will of my Father who is in heaven. 22 Many will say to me on that day, ‘Lord, Lord, did we not prophesy in your name and in your name drive out demons and in your name perform many miracles?’ 23 Then I will tell them plainly, ‘I never knew you. Away from me, you evildoers!’”

God doesn’t care about you performing miracles and what you did, He cares about a relationship with you. I challenge you this year to get to know Jesus. Have a true relationship, spend time, and get close with Him. Become a regular with Christ. After all, you can’t let someone in if you don’t know them.
