“for you are a people holy to the Lord your God. Out of all the peoples on the face of the earth, the Lord has chosen you to be his treasured possession.”
Deuteronomy 14:2 (NIV)
I remember when I attended pre-k, during our class, one of the teacher aids would come get me and a few other students on Fridays. During this time, we would get to pick snacks and a prize of some sort. This was a privilege to get to leave class and get a “treasure.” Even growing up through middle school, there were many rewards we got for good behavior. We received treasures, or prizes as a result of being good. This is no different to God, except to Him we are the treasure.
The scripture above says that we are the Lord’s chosen treasured possession. And if we are, we should act like it. We should live accordingly and in doing so, we should live holy, treat our bodies like temples, share the love of Christ, and worship God with our all. You should feel so honored and special that out of all the people, God has chosen YOU, to be his treasured possession. No matter what you have done, God loves you and wants you to know that you are the treasure.
